“This is a lovely bijou cottage set on a busy main road There is off road parking but if you have 2 bigger cars it’s tight getting both in We booked the cottage as our dogs are scared of fireworks and on the whole we didn’t hear many.”

However we hadn’t taken into account the jets flying from nearby RAF bases so if your dog is scared of loud noises this isn’t the cottage for you The welcome pack was basic but supplied tea and coffee and milk which was welcome after a long drive The double bedroom is snug as is the shower in the en-suite The twin room seemed larger but no wardrobe to hang anything Shower and toilet down stairs were excellent Kitchen is compact and crowded with 2 people in it but it was well ...

Ok for an evening of tv or reading. The garden was well enclosed and good for doggie late night abloushions Would recommend postbox cottage as it’s well situated for forest walks just not great if your dog is skittish

About the location

FELTWELL

Brandon 7 miles; Thetford 16 miles; King’s Lynn 24 miles; Bury St Edmunds 25 miles

The agricultural village of Feltwell is situated on the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire borders and is one of the largest villages in Norfolk. Feltwell offers good local amenities including village stores, a Post Office, and pubs. This area of Norfolk is known as the ‘Brecks’, which has a unique landscape consisting of beautiful Scots Pine forests, heathlands, wetlands, chalk streams, meres and pingo ponds. The Brecks is an outstanding area for wildlife conservation and boasts several nature reserves, country parks and visitor centres, which offer activities for the whole family. Thetford Forest High Lodge Centre is the largest lowland pine forest in the UK, and is an excellent place to walk and cycle. Just 6 miles from Feltwell on the Suffolk border is Lakenheath, where aviation enthusiasts can see American jets at USAF Lakenheath take off and land from its watch areas. Close by is the English Heritage owned Neolithic flint mines at Grimes Graves, and the 125 acre reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village at West Stow. Museums can be found at Brandon, Thetford, Mildenhall and Swaffham and country houses include the National Trust owned Oxburgh Hall and Euston Hall. The area also has two local small breweries and St George’s Distillery - England’s only whiskey distillery. Feltwell is an ideal base for exploring all that this region has to offer.
