“Absolutely stunning property.”

The little extras were a lovely touch and the hot tub was amazing! The bed and pillows were so comfy. I have frequent insomnia but I slept so amazingly here! It's the most relaxed I've been in a while. One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. We will definitely be back!

Thank you for the welcoming bits and pieces, very much appreciated after our long journey. Views from the patio doors/balcony were lovely, looking to the sea, watching the ships float by, we downloaded a ship app to identify them and their destinations (a bit sad I know) lovely at night watching their bright lights. Spinney’s Den is located perfectly for visits to the Broads, the Norfolk Coast, we visited Sandringham and Blickling Estate, both an easy drive away. We would recommend this property to our family and friends, a lovely week, maybe one day we will return. Thank you for sharing your property with us.

“10/10. It was a lovely stay with a hot tub to enjoy and a fabulous balcony with views across open fields to the sea near Mundersley and Bacton Sands.”

We really felt we were pampered for four nights. This upside down house (living area upstairs with access to a lovely balcony) was great to come home to after trips out to the local coast, woods and National Trust properties. The owners have put a lot of thought into little touches to make you feel welcome and your stay perfect, including for our dog. A great selection of games, books, Blu Rays & DVDs, dog basket, dog treats, cool bag, some beach stuff, a secure garden and balcony. Hospitality gifts were a nice thought too after a long drive. It’s a bolt hole for two; the open views across the landscape and the big skies means it doesn’t feel small. Top tip: take binoculars if you’re into wild life. The property is set back from a road, but we didn’t find road noise too intrusive and at night it was very quiet. Owners next door, Nikki and John, were welcoming, polite and on hand if we needed to ask questions or query anything. They set a high bar for standards. The place was spotless. We have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family.

“We had an amazing stay with our little sausage dog.”

The hosts had thought of everything from a dog bed to towels for the hot tub. The den is located at the top of a driveway, just a few meters from the owners house, however you would not know. The hosts were so quiet and just left us to do our own thing, only seeing them when we were coming back from a day out at the local beach. The hot tub is also private as well as the balcony from the living space. I highly recommend this property and we will definitely come back! Loved everything about it. Be mindful this space has no internet provided however I did have 5G phone signal.

“Yes, we arrived around 6pm on the 27th and were disappointed to find that our 'cottage' was infact a lego house on the end of someone's driveway.”

Good things first, the place was very clean and nicely presented. It had a nice view from a little balcony, though this was somewhat tainted by a main road only 30 or so metres away (national speed limit), on which cars were bombing past every few seconds. It was also nice to only be a 5 minute drive from the nearest beach, which was great. The main issues we had, were an infestation on the Monday morning, of tiny flea-like insects, that we were still finding on our clothes the following day back at home. We don't know if it was something that came in from the outside, or if it was an existing problem we hadn't noticed until the Monday, when they were all over the walls and ceiling upstairs, but not downstairs. Finally, and the main cause for concern, and the reason our early departure, was the owner, John. We'd had no dealings with either of the owners, save for a nice welcoming platter left out for our arrival. On the Saturday early evening, my wife had looked inside the hot tub to see if it was ready for use, and had come back in to shower first (as was laid out in the property rule book, which had infinitely more 'don'ts' than 'do's', and put on her costume. When she went back out to try it, she noticed the straps had been re-secured on the cover. She asked if I'd been out and re-fastened the straps, which I hadn't, but slightly confused, we chose to take a trip to the beach instead to walk the dog. The following day, we decided to actually use the hot tub, and was in it for around 40 mins or so, when it cut out. I remember it saying in the rule book that it might trip and where to find the fuse-box, so we got out and came inside to check that was the reason it had stopped working. I thought it wise to dry off before accessing the fuse box, and after I'd sorted it I was putting my shorts and t-shirt back on when there was a knock on the door. This guy who I had to assume was John, because he didn't say hi, or introduce himself at all. He simply said 'could you make sure you close the cover on the hot tub when you finish using it'. I was completely confused by his attitude and failure to even say hi, and explained that we'd literally only got out a few minutes before because it had tripped, and was drying off and dressing prior to sorting the hot tub. He continued over to the hot tub and proceeded to close it down and I just closed the door and went back inside. My wife immediately raised the very fair point, which was how did he know? we got out of the hot tub, and within only a matter of minutes he was at the door. The hot tub, despite the suggestion that it would be in some way private, was overlooked by the second, larger lego house on their drive, however, that place appeared unoccupied during our stay. The speed in which 'John' appeared and his general manner, completely freaked my wife out and she wanted to leave on the Sunday, as she was made to feel as though we were under some kind of observation. We decided to wait until the Monday in the hope that the trips to the beach could in some make up for the tiny space and weird owner, not mention we'd paid out over £600 for this. We woke up next morning to the infestation and decided enough was enough. We started to pack the car, and as we were doing so, John suddenly appeared at the hot tub again! .... seriously, this was a nightmare and not the birthday treat for my wife that I had intended. We stayed in all, one evening and one full day, and had it not been for the nearby beach, we'd have left even sooner. As we left, I told John we were leaving and he never even had the good grace to ask why. It felt very much as though they want the money that these properties bring, but they don't actually want the guests. We left the place utterly spotless and drove home. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

We are sorry to hear that your stay with us at the Spinney’s Den did not meet your expectations. In response to your review, we would like to highlight that the proximity of the property from the road and the main house is mentioned within the property description. We would like to assure you that property, garden and hot tub are not overlooked, and it is fully self-contained. The infestation you refer to are thrips, often known as thunderflies or thunderbugs. The property is situated next to a large wheat field which is currently awaiting harvest, and these insects are prevalent around agricultural land. They also predominantly favour warm and dry temperatures, which is why they are so popular in the summer months. With regards to the hot tub, daily maintenance is carried out by John as mentioned in the welcome handbook. As the hot tub is a warm environment, the chemical balance is constantly changing so certain chemicals are added to ensure that the water is clean and clear, for the safety of our guests. We request that the hot tub lid remains closed when it is not in use as the cover acts as a layer of protection for the hot tub. This ensures that the heat is kept in, and the water remains clean. Again, this is for the safety and protection of our guests. We are disheartened and disappointed that you did not speak with us before your departure. We always encourage our guests to speak with us regarding any issues, so we have the opportunity to resolve them. Please accept our apologies for any upset and distress we may have inadvertently caused you both. Property Owner

“Really lovely stay, despite the rain!”

Spinney's Den was very clean and tidy, a true home from home! The hot tub was one of the biggest ones we have had. The balcony is a great place to chill, listen to the bird song and admire the views. The welcome pack, tailored to our dietary needs was a lovely touch. We loved the reverse living, great shower and a very comfy bed and a toilet on both floors. No WiFi as stated in the info but we had a strong 4G signal. A good variety of DVD's to watch when not out in the hot tub or exploring the local area. We definitely hope to return again for a longer stay.

“This holiday was honestly amazing!”

We loved it that much we are going to book again for next year hopefully. The property was exactly what it said on the description and more. Waking up every morning and sitting on the balcony watching the deer bounce about the field was definitely a highlight. The walks around the property for your four legged friends are stunning and so easy to find. We were very lucky weather wise but even if it rained all week there was still so much to do with the TV, a lot of DVD’s to choose from and board games and puzzles! The hosts were so lovely too, if you needed anything they were there but also gave you your own privacy! It really was a perfect break away in the UK.

Our husky loved her stay also, it was perfect for dogs as within 10mins from Spinney den you can walk to the woods, or 5-10mins in a car can get to more woods or the beach. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived, such peaceful surroundings. Would 100% recommend and would definitely visit again. Thank you!

“What a spectacular ‘upside down’ cottage situated in the lovely Norfolk countryside.”

“This is a fantastic little place to stay for a couple with a dog.”

Although the village itself does not have much in terms of amenities , it is very pretty and peaceful. The lodge is great, hot tub fab, even in the unexpected September sunshine. It was nice to be left to our own devices and know someone was close at hand if we needed anything. Could not get the coffee machine to work however. Everything else was just as described and just as required and I would recommend this property.

We made use of the maps and ample information on the local area which the owners have thoughtfully provided. “Lovely little house.”

.loved the hot tub and the views from the balcony. We enjoyed perfect weather and this is a great location for exploring the surrounding area..so many virtually deserted beaches which we and our dog loved! Parks,National Trust places,the Broads all close by.The hosts are unobtrusive but available for any questions. Very nice homemade scones upon arrival,bread,cheese nibbles and grapes was a very nice touch. Couldn't find anything we needed that this home didn't have(apart from i missed a dishwasher

The owners are friendly but allow you to get on and enjoy your holiday. The views are amazing and the balcony is perfect for relaxing or star gazing at night. Very well equipped from little sauce packets and welcome scones to everything you could need for your dog. The only tiny niggle was we didn't find the bed very comfortable but that's just our personal preference. We have already recommended to family and can't wait to return.

“A perfect setting for a week away on the coast.”

Some lovely beaches only short drives away. A warm welcome awaited in the form of fresh scones, bread and cheese. The studio was spotless with everything you need, including a comfy bed and treats for the dog. The balcony view is fantastic, as is the hot tub which was a godsend after long walks. I made use of the fiction books in the drawer, and the coffee machine, which was a lovely surprise. The village itself is lovely, we often took Jess for a walk around the woods. Re-assuring to have the enclosed garden knowing we didn’t have to keep Jess on a tight reign. The beach at Mundesley was perfect, and we often found ourselves taking the 5 minute drive down there at sunset for an evening stroll. It really was faultless and the only negative was that we wish our stay was longer. The owners were lovely, they lived nearby but were not at all intrusive. We can highly recommend this beautiful property.

“Where do we start.”

. if allowed we would give our stay 11 / 10. We loved the property's layout and the views of the neighbouring fields and countryside. The thought that the owners have put into the property can be found throughout from a wide array of toiletries, waterproof macs, welcome scones to everything you could need for your dog. There are some lovely beaches only short drive away. Plenty of lovely local walks around the property as well. The outside space was lovely and very secure for our dog. My husband, myself and our dog all thoroughly enjoyed staying here. I am sure we will be back.

The description does not always match the reality. No such problem here. If anything the web page did not do the accommodation justice. We were delighted with every aspect of Spinneys Den; big enough to contain all that is needed, yet small enough to have real charm. The rooms were exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. The balcony provides a wonderful space to enjoy a meal or drink while taking in the lovely views.

Everything was provided , even for the dog. I stay in alot of places with hot-tubs and theirs was the best I've used. We stayed for 1 week and visited lots of places, short drive to the Norfolk broads and beaches. A must is Horsey Gap, a walk along the beach to see the seals resting. You won't regret booking a stay here. And the welcoming gift of goodies was lovely and very thoughtful x

“We absolutely loved the property.”

We have stayed in lots of good places, and always filter by excellent reviews. This property is the most immaculate property we have ever stayed in. It smells wonderful, the personal touches are evident throughout, the facilities are top notch, and the generosity of the owners is noticeable and appreciated. Hot tub and garden area are lovely. The balcony is wonderful and I imagine quite fabulous in sunnier weather. The Den is on the owners' property but is private and I can't see that it would cause any issues. I heartily recommend it as a lovely little retreat for 2 and a dog if you have one. If you don't then you needn't worry about the cleanliness at all. The only downside I see (which we did realise) is the lack of WiFi. I can perhaps see that being problematic if you're staying a week or two. That's a personal choice in the end. We loved it and the hosts are excellent.

“Spinney’s Den is such a lovely little cottage, perfect for two of us.”

It was clean, well appointed and had lovely little touches to make it feel homely. The hot tub was great but because of high winds we only used it twice during our stay. The only down side is it didn’t have any WiFi which we didn’t realise until a few days before our stay. We just assumed most places has WiFi these days. It could have been made clearer on the website. Otherwise we couldn’t fault it.

John, the owner, called round to check that everything was ok, which was very reassuring. Definitely a dog friendly property too, with a really secure garden which made a change. Special touches of leaving a bed, treats and a towel for our dog was especially nice. We booked as our family were staying a few minutes away, so had a wonderful Christmas all together. The hot tub was lovely after a day of walking on the beach and the cottage had nice personal touches on arrival. Our pup Nico was poorly and Nikki kindly let us have medication delivered to their home while we were out. We truly had a brilliant time and hope to go back again soon! “Absolutely fabulous accommodation, could not fault it.”

We loved the extra welcoming touches for both humans and dog. The area was just right for a short break in the countryside. We arrived and storm Arwen visited us on the Saturday evening, we were all safely tucked up in the cosy cottage listening to the battle rage outside! We did manage to use the hot tub on two nights during a lull in the wind which was heavenly after coming back from long walks with the hound. A half hour walk to Mundesley which has a lovely long sandy beach and a couple of pubs that serve food. Nikki and John are next door if needed and even let us know where there were fuel supplies during the recent crisis. “We stayed 27th August to 3rd September.”

The owners have provided everything you need for your stay, including items for the dog i.e, dog bed!, towels and treats. We did bring our own but the fact they included such items for the dog is amazing. A lovely welcome pack upon our arrival included fresh bread and scones, and milk in the fridge. incredible! much appreciated after our 7hr journey. Beautiful cottage with fabulous views of the countryside and the hot tub is an absolute bonus. Beautiful location; feels like the middle of nowhere yet not far from Mundesley, Bacton, Walcot, Cromer etc. Local walks for the dog included open fields and woodland nearby, plus of course the local beaches. So peacefu, relaxing hot tub an asset. Had a relaxing and peaceful stay. Nikki and John were great hosts. Recommend visiting local butcher they recommended. Excellent choice at the butchers and staff very helpful and friendly. No pub or local shop within easy walking distance, but ok as you can relax sat outside. Lovely to sit and have breakfast on the balcony with views over the fields. Saw deer in the fields, wonderful sunrises and sunsets from the balcony. Looking to see when we can go again, highly recommend.
