“A wonderful location and accommodation in which we spent our 60th wedding anniversary.”

Very nice welcome from the owners Mark and Melanie and a very quick response to a minor problem with a light bulb. I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in a lovely village well placed for access to the coast. We don't have young children but the facilities for children are extremely good. A definite 5 star rating from us..

The property

Tucked away in the idyllic village of Martham, Dove’s Nest is an attractive ground-floor cottage, offering a wonderful backdrop for any type of holiday.

Encompassed by the magnificent scenery of The Broads National Park with the coast right at your fingertips, this delightful dwelling is perfectly suited to a group of avid walkers and family alike.

As you enter into the light and airy porch, kick off your mud-splattered boots and remove your coats before continuing through to the beautiful white kitchen, kitted out with all the essential appliances and utensils needed for a stress-free self-catering stay.

From here, a spacious living/dining room with cheerful yellow hues and charming country furnishings awaits you, a peaceful space to relax and unwind on the plush leather sofas as you watch an enthralling movie on the flat-screen TV and enjoy the heat of the electric fire.

Gather with friends at the pretty oak dining table and discuss your most memorable moments from the holiday so far, or escape the excitement with a brand-new novel as you curl up into one of the inviting armchairs in the snug.

Feel the warmth of the sun as you lounge in the conservatory with a tasty cup of tea, or venture outside to the fabulous, enclosed garden and indulge in dinner alfresco on the decking or veranda, whilst the children play happily in the games room.

Back inside, three restful bedrooms including a king-size, a double and a twin offer ample space for a family or group of six, and are served by both a smart bathroom and sophisticated shower room, as well as an external cloakroom to the front of the property.

Make the most of your time in The Broads with a day spent hiking through the Martham Broad National Nature Reserve.

Uncover Eelfleet Dyke Mill and Somerton Church Ruins, or continue along to Horsey to see the 19th century Windpump, now owned by the National Trust.

Head for the seaside with an afternoon on the soft sands of Winterton Beach and discover attractions such as Lost World Adventure Golf and Hirsty's Family Fun Park, over in the village of Newport.

See wild tigers and exotic red pandas at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, or wander the ancient remains of Caister Roman Fort, just a pleasant drive away.

Enjoy freshwater fishing and the local fishing pits in the village.

Take a tour of the Toad Hole Cottage Museum, or swing through the treetops of BeWILDerwood Norfolk.

Take in the stunning seascapes on an exhilarating hike along the Norfolk Coastal Acorn Trail, or stroll along the rugged terrains of Hemsby Parish Walk.

See breath-taking artefacts at the National Trust owned Elizabethan House Museum and the Museum of Memories over in Great Yarmouth, before a quick stop by SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth.

On your return to the cottage, be sure to devour a tasty portion of fish and chips from the postcard picture thatched fish and chip shop or one of the loacla takeaways, before washing it all down with a refreshing beverage down at the pub.

Make many happy memories with your loved ones on an escape to Dove’s Nest.
